Modern social life, is a game, Ed, where your idea of what you’re worth is called into question.
The lesser integrity and character you accept from those you call friends, the lesser you’re projecting your worth for.
They don’t see your accepting anyone and everyone as you being kind.
They see you selling yourself for cheap downgrading your worth.
Any time you try to assert a higher worth, you’re met with drama and distraction. Then possibly out of exhaustion you accept the same low gross paradigm again. Because you don’t want to rock the boat.
You yourself doubt if you can live life without the parasites.
I’ve never seen more clearer than I see today, Ed, how the people we allow to interact with us are a statement of self worth.
We were programmed to “be kind” to those not up to our character standards. That was not kindness but an attempt to win the approval and validation from our teachers and elders as children. We believed they knew what was right and wrong. But they were wrong too.
The people we give our attention to, are the paradigm we live on, and according to which the other parts of our life align.
That saying; If you want to fly with the eagles, stop walking with the geese.
