This poem, is a message from the poet W.B.Yeats in the early 1900s.
He says:
I hope you understand; that stories of humans who live in lands guarded by dragons, with paintings of dolphins and mermaids, do but wake up the hope to live, that died with the dragons.
The thugs deleted dragons from our consciousness for a reason. They filled mass media with the Dragon as the enemy of angels and saints and everything good.
And yet the dragon lives on, literally entwined with that most primal first instinct of ours – the very thing that manifested us into existence – the will to live.
Because the will to live, is the root and fount of natural immortality, Ed.
Now here beneath are witness “scientific journal” drawings from 1742 of dragons. Charles Owen’s “Essay towards a Natural History of Serpents.
As you can see, Dragons are a part of the Naga or Serpent family.

Here beneath we have an artistic depiction of the Constellation Draco, considered by eastern astrologers to be the origin of the Nagas – Ms Persian 370, late 17th-18th century – Welcome Library, London

And beneath, we have a painting from 1617 by Michael Maier Fugiens showing the spiritual understanding of humans represented all over the ancient world – that Dragons symbolize immortality.

Where the Snake or basic serpent signifies the start of Life, Ed, the Dragon symbolizes the evolution from the start of life, as Sperm (Serpent) and then rise into immortality. They are the Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the end.
That is why the Ouroboros or Uroborus shows the immortal Dragon feeding on itself.

Lucas Jennis, in the 1625 alchemical tract De Lapide Philosophico.
